The sixteen divisional charts
Parāśara's ṣoḍaśa-varga divides each sign into finer parts, each division re-mapping the planets onto a chart dedicated to one area of life. A result promised in the Rāśi chart holds only if the relevant varga confirms it — which is why a full reading always crosses the D1 against its divisions.

Which ayanāṁśa does this use?
The chart is computed on the Lahiri (Citrapakṣa) ayanāṁśa, the standard sidereal reference used across Parāśara astrology. Planetary longitudes are corrected from the tropical to the sidereal zodiac before the chart is cast.
Do I need my exact birth time?
For the Lagna (Ascendant), the divisional charts, and the daśā sequence, an accurate birth time matters — the Lagna moves through a full sign roughly every two hours, and the finer vargas shift faster still. The Moon sign is stable even with a rough time, but house-based and divisional analysis needs the birth time within a few minutes for full reliability.
What are divisional (varga) charts?
A divisional chart divides each sign into equal parts and re-maps the planets onto a new chart dedicated to one area of life — the Navāṁśa (D9) for marriage and inner strength, the Daśāṁśa (D10) for career, the Saptāṁśa (D7) for children, and so on. A promise in the D1 only holds up if the relevant varga confirms it.
What are Shadbala and Vimsopaka strength?
Shadbala is the six-fold measure of a planet's total strength — positional, directional, temporal, motional, natural and aspectual. Vimsopaka is a twenty-point score of a planet's strength across the vargas. Together they tell you whether a planet is actually able to deliver the results its placement promises.
