Why Parasara Jyotish

Not another sun-sign horoscope

Generic rashifal sites publish twelve paragraphs a day and hope one fits you. Everything here is computed from your chart, by the rules the classics actually wrote down.

Verse-true to the classics

Built on the Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra. The BPHS analyzer reads your chart rule by rule and shows each combination it matches — no vague filler.

Your chart, not your sign

Daily, monthly and yearly horoscopes are cast from your own Moon, nakshatra and running daśā. No two people read the same words here.

Parāśara & Jaimini, together

Houses and daśās woven with chara karakas, arudha padas and rāśi dṛṣṭi — the integrated method serious astrologers actually use.

Timing, not just traits

Vimśottarī, Nārāyaṇa, Sudāśā and Dṛg daśā timelines, live gochar with Sade Sati, and the rare Tithi Praveśa year chart answer when — not just what.

Everything you can do with your chart

One janam kundli unlocks every tool below — all built on the same classical Parāśara engine, so the chart you cast once powers them all. Charts, horoscopes, daśā and yogas are free; Q&A and in-depth reports come with premium.

Why a Vedic horoscope is read from the Moon

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac and reads everyday life from your Moon sign (rāśi), not your sun sign. The Moon governs the mind and moves through a sign every two-and-a-half days, so a Moon-sign reading — the rashifal — follows your moods and circumstances much more closely than a once-a-month sun sign. Your birth nakshatra sharpens it further, dividing the zodiac into twenty-seven stars instead of twelve signs. That is why every reading here starts from your Moon and your exact placements rather than a single broad sign.

From a chart to a prediction

A janam kundli shows what your life promises; the daśā system shows when each promise ripens. Parasara Jyotish builds your chart, then checks it against the classical rules — the strength and house of each planet, the yogas it forms, and the divisional charts that confirm a theme — and finally lays your Vimśottarī daśā and the current transits over it for timing. The result is a horoscope you can act on: not vague sun-sign lines, but the combinations the texts reserve for your own configuration.

Frequently asked questions

Is Parasara Jyotish free?+

Parasara Jyotish is freemium. Generating your janam kundli, divisional charts (D1–D60), Vimśottarī daśā, 300+ yogas, and the daily, monthly and yearly horoscopes is free. Personalised Q&A answers, in-depth report readings and the AI chat require a premium subscription. Your chart stays in your browser session — nothing is posted to a public profile.

What is a janam kundli (birth chart)?+

A janam kundli is the map of the sky at your exact moment and place of birth — the signs, the twelve houses (bhāvas) and the nine planets (grahas). Vedic astrology reads this chart, and its divisional sub-charts, to describe your nature and the timing of events.

Do I need my exact birth time?+

For the full reading, yes. Your ascendant, the house each planet falls in and your daśā balance all depend on the birth time — even a few minutes can shift them. If you only know the date, you still get a useful Moon-based reading, but an accurate time makes everything more reliable.

What is Vimshottari dasha?+

Vimśottarī is the main Vedic timing system — a 120-year cycle of planetary periods counted from the Moon's nakshatra. It tells you which planet is running your life now, and when, so you can time events rather than only describe the chart.

How is Vedic astrology different from Western (sun-sign) astrology?+

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri ayanāṁśa) and reads daily life from the Moon sign, not the Sun. Because the Moon moves through a sign every two-and-a-half days, a Moon-sign reading — the rashifal — tracks your moods and circumstances far more closely than a once-a-month sun sign.

Which ayanāṁśa and house system do you use?+

Charts are computed with the Lahiri (Chitrapakṣa) ayanāṁśa, the standard for Vedic astrology, using accurate astronomical positions. Houses are shown in the equal-house style by default, in both North and South Indian chart formats.

Is my birth data private?+

Your details are used only to calculate your chart, planetary positions and daśā. They are not sold or shared, and the chart lives in your browser session unless you choose to sign in and save it to your own library.
