Two different jobs
Prokerala’s centre of gravity is the chart generator and the panchang, extended sideways into matching, festival calendars, regional poruthams and an astrology API that other websites embed. It is infrastructure — reliable, broad, and consumed as much by other developers as by end users.
Ours is the interpretation layer that would sit on top of infrastructure like that. Sixteen vargas exist so that each topic can be read in the varga that governs it; a daśā timeline exists so that a promise in the birth chart can be given a date. Neither is interesting on its own. Both matter once something is deciding what they mean together.

Prokerala is clearly ahead on panchang, regional matching systems and its developer API. Those are real strengths and we do not compete for them.
Where the difference shows most: kundli matching
Matching is the single most-used feature on both sites, and it is where two philosophies separate most visibly. Ashtakūṭa scores are a legitimate, classical starting point. They are also, on their own, a very coarse instrument — thirty-six points assembled almost entirely from the two Moons and their nakshatras, with the rest of both charts unread.
Manglik is checked three ways, not one
Mars doṣa is read from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus separately, cancellations are tested, and the two charts are balanced against each other — because a doṣa on both sides is a different situation from a doṣa on one.
The Navāṁśa 7th is read, not skipped
Marriage is a D9 subject. The 7th house of the Navāṁśa, its lord and the Darakāraka carry more weight on marital outcome than the Rāśi 7th does, and the engine weights them accordingly.
Upapada Lagna enters the verdict
The Upapada is the Jaimini signature for the marriage itself — its longevity and its character. It is standard in the tradition and almost entirely absent from free matching calculators.
Attraction and destiny are separate questions
Whether two people are drawn to each other (Venus, Mars, the 5th, A7) and whether they are likely to marry (D9 7th, Upapada, Darakāraka) are different readings, and collapsing them into one score is how a 32/36 ends in a broken engagement.
On accuracy — the part nobody should bluff about
Both sites compute planetary longitudes from an astronomical ephemeris, and with the same ayanāṁśa and the same birth data they will agree closely. Anyone claiming a large accuracy gap between two competent modern calculators at the level of the Rāśi chart is selling something.
The place where calculators genuinely diverge is deeper down: the higher vargas. A D60 division is half a degree of the zodiac wide. A birth time recorded to the nearest five minutes can move the Ascendant by more than a degree, which reshuffles D60 completely and can shift D9 and D10 as well. This is why we ask for a precise birth time and treat the higher vargas with explicit caution rather than presenting them as settled fact.

The verdict
Prokerala is the better utility: faster to reach, broader in panchang and regional systems, and available in languages we have not shipped. If you need a correct chart, a Sade Sati check or a porutham score, it will not let you down.
Parasara Jyotish is the better second step. Once you have the chart, the question becomes what it says — and that is where a matching score out of 36 stops being enough and a weighted, multi-varga reading starts to matter.

Yes — Prokerala computes from an ephemeris and its Rāśi and Navāṁśa positions are reliable. Differences between competent calculators come from the ayanāṁśa setting and from the precision of the birth time you enter, not from the software being wrong.
Does Parasara Jyotish do 36-point Ashtakūṭa matching?
Yes, as one input among several. It is folded into a unified compatibility score alongside the Navāṁśa 7th house, the Upapada Lagna and a two-way Manglik balance, rather than being presented as the whole answer.
Which is better for panchang and muhūrta?
Prokerala, without argument. Its panchang, festival calendar and regional almanac coverage are far deeper than ours, and that is not a gap we are trying to close.
