How Sarala Yoga forms
| Condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| The house | The 8th house (8th) |
| The occupant | The lord of the 6th, 8th or 12th placed in the 8th house |
| Cleanest form | That lord accompanied only by other dusthāna lords |
| Contamination | A benefic or trine lord joining it weakens the yoga — that graha takes the damage instead of dealing it |
Why the 8th house lord in the 8th house helps you
The 8th house is a dusthāna — it governs crisis, hidden things, sudden reversal and the length of life itself. Its lord carries those significations wherever it goes, and in most placements that is a liability: the graha exports the 8th house's trouble into whatever house it lands in.
Place it back in a dusthāna and the export has nowhere harmful to go. The graha's capacity to damage is aimed at ground that was already adverse, and the result is that crises arrive and resolve, hidden things surface without wrecking anything, and the life is not cut short.
Vipareeta means reversed, and the reversal is precise: this is not a benefic combination that happens to involve difficult houses. It is difficulty consuming itself. That is why the classical results for these three yogas read as much like things that fail to happen to the native as like things that do.
The condition throughout is company. The reversal is cleanest when the 8th lord sits with only other dusthāna lords. A benefic or a trine lord joining it contaminates the combination — that graha is not adverse, so it absorbs the damage instead of directing it.
What Sarala Yoga gives
The classical list is unusually strong — long life, resolve, fearlessness, prosperity, learning, children and wealth, success in undertakings, victory over enemies, and genuine celebrity.
Longevity leads it for a structural reason: the 8th is the house of lifespan, and a dusthāna lord turned against the 8th's own difficulty reads directly as a life not cut short. Sarala is one of the more reliable classical longevity indicators.
Fearlessness is the temperamental signature, and it is the one people recognise. The 8th is the house of what is hidden and what is feared; a chart in which that house consumes its own difficulty produces someone unusually unbothered by the things that unsettle others — including, characteristically, by the prospect of their own death.
How this check works
Your chart is computed from an astronomical ephemeris on the Lahiri (Citrapakṣa) ayanāṁśa, and the formation rule stated on this page is tested against it directly — the same rule, not a paraphrase. Where the classical texts disagree about a condition, the page names the reading we follow.
