Which gemstone, mantra and remedy suits your chart?
Vedic astrology remedies work differently from generic advice. A gemstone amplifies a planet — it must be the right planet for your lagna, not any planet you like. A mantra works through vibration and intentional repetition — the planet's mantra is chosen from which planet is causing difficulty in your specific chart. Fasting on a planet's weekday appeases it; dāna (charity) releases the karma it represents.
The 8 remedy questions above are answered from your kundli — which stones, mantras and fasting days are appropriate for your lagna and current daśā, not from a generic planetary list.
The six types of Vedic remedy
Ratna (Gemstone)
Strengthens a benefic planet by channelling its frequency through the stone worn on the body. Only gemstones of yogakaraka or functional benefic planets are recommended — wearing the wrong gemstone strengthens a malefic.
Mantra
Seed (bīja) mantras and deity mantras invoked daily activate the planet's higher quality. Counted on a rosary (japa mālā) in multiples of 108. The planet's mantra is chosen from your chart's specific configuration, not a generic planet list.
Fasting (Upavāsa)
Each weekday is ruled by a planet. Fasting on that day (or observing a light diet) appeases the planet when it causes difficulty. The correct day is determined by which planet is causing obstruction in your current dasha.
Dāna (Charity)
Donating items associated with an afflicting planet — on its day, to a worthy recipient — is the most classical Vedic remedy. It releases the karma the planet represents without amplifying it (as gemstones can).
Yantra
A geometric diagram encoding a planet's energy — placed in the home or worn. Most effective when energised with the correct mantra by a qualified practitioner. The Sri Yantra and planetary yantras are the most common.
Pūjā / Homa
A fire ritual (homa) or temple worship directed at the deity ruling a troubled planet. The Navagraha Homa addresses all nine planets simultaneously; individual planet pujas target a specific configuration.

Vedic remedies — common questions
Which gemstone should I wear according to my kundli?+
Gemstones in Vedic astrology are worn to strengthen a specific planet. The correct planet to strengthen is the one that is a functional benefic for your lagna — the lagna lord, the 5th lord, the 9th lord or the yogakaraka planet (a single planet ruling both a kendra and a trikona). Wearing a gemstone for a malefic planet (even if it rules a good house) can amplify its harmful effects. The tool above identifies your functional benefics and recommends the appropriate gem.
Why is it important to wear the right gemstone?+
Gemstones amplify a planet's energy — both the good and the bad. A yellow sapphire (Jupiter) worn by a Capricorn lagna person strengthens Jupiter, which rules the 3rd (effort) and 12th (loss) — potentially increasing expenditure and struggle. A blue sapphire (Saturn) worn by a Cancer lagna strengthens Saturn, which rules the 7th and 8th — potentially triggering partnership trouble and sudden events. Always check which planets are functional benefics for your specific lagna before wearing any stone.
Which mantra should I chant for career problems?+
Career problems are generally associated with a weak 10th lord, an afflicted Ātmakāraka or a challenging daśā. The appropriate mantra depends on which planet is involved. If Saturn's daśā is running and the career is difficult, the Shani mantra (Om Sham Shanaischaraya Namah) chanted on Saturdays is prescribed. If the Sun is weak and authority is the issue, the Aditya Hridayam or the Sun's bīja mantra (Om Hrāṁ Hrīṁ Hraum Saḥ Sūryāya Namaḥ) is recommended.
Can remedies change an astrology prediction?+
Vedic tradition holds that karma is not fully fixed — only a small part (Dridha karma) is immovable. Remedies do not erase karma but they can: (1) reduce the intensity of a difficult planetary period, (2) bring mental clarity to navigate challenges better, (3) accumulate positive merit that creates future opportunities. Parāśara mentions dāna (charity) as the most effective remedy because it actively releases the karma represented by the planet rather than just trying to suppress it.
What is the fastest or most effective Vedic remedy?+
Classical texts consistently rate dāna (charity given with awareness) as the most effective remedy because it directly discharges karma. Mantra japa is next — it works through repetition, focus and the vibrational quality of sound. Gemstones are powerful but require expert selection. Fasting is accessible and immediate. No single remedy works for all charts — the right remedy depends on which planet is causing difficulty and its specific configuration in your chart.
