The chart
What is known of the life
Chart pointers›
- Chart pointers (PVNR):
- Rasi — Libra lagna. Jupiter + Moon in 7H (Aries); Saturn + Venus + Ketu in 10H (Cancer).
- Gajakesari Yoga (Moon + Jupiter) in the 7H aspecting lagna → fame that lasts even after death.
- Tapasya Yoga: Saturn + Venus + Ketu in mutual trine (here together in 10H) → ability to devote the whole life to a single cause.
- Embedded Raj Yoga: Venus = lagna lord; Saturn = 4L (kendra) + 5L (trikona) — kendra-trikona union.
- Navamsa: Venus and Moon both in a trine in a watery sign → unquestionably a great melodious singer (melody- not rhythm-oriented).
- Dwisaptatisamadasha applies: Mars (the 7L) is in the lagna → use this 72-year conditional dasha for death.
At a glance (astrologer's read)›
- Kind of work: Legendary Carnatic singer; also acted in Tamil films in the 1930s–40s. Sang as seva (service to God), not for money or fame.
- Spirituality: Deeply devotional; genuinely devoted (D-20: both 5H and 9H engaged) and publicly part of organized religion.
- Marriage: Husband was a politician with political connections.
- Health: Had diabetes.
- Longevity / death: Passed away (the day before this class).
Life events & timing (as PVNR analysed)›
- Death — running Vimshottari at death was Mercury dasha, Rahu antardasha, which PVNR says gives no clean maraka logic (Mercury = 9L/12L, Rahu = 3L in 4H — neither a natural maraka). The honest reading instead uses the conditional dasha:
- Dwisaptatisamadasha (72-year), second cycle: Jupiter Dasha (August 1998 – August 2007) + Moon Antardasha. Jupiter is in the 2H (maraka) and Moon is in the 7H (maraka) from Libra — both maraka planets, so their combined period = the natural death window.
- Narrowed by the annual Tithi Pravesha: in the 2004 TP, Venus dasha started December 8, 2004, and Venus is the 7L (maraka) of the Rasi → the death marker within the year.
- Sang at the United Nations and received the Bharat Ratna — opportunities that came partly through the political connections she and her husband enjoyed.
Life by area›
Career / artistry
- Gajakesari in the 7H aspecting lagna = lasting fame. Navamsa Venus+Moon in a watery trine = a melodious singer.
- D-10: AL in Sagittarius with Moon, untouched by malefics = an unblemished public reputation that endures; retrograde Jupiter in D-10 = a strong past-life desire to serve God through her career, fulfilled.
Spirituality
- Tapasya Yoga (Saturn+Venus+Ketu) = a tapasvini who gave her whole life to one cause (music as seva). D-20 Raj Yoga (Venus LL + Mercury 5L + Saturn 9L/10L) = great spiritual attainment through the work itself.
Health
- Diabetes read from D-6: Jupiter as 6L in the 6H (diabetes/fat-related); Venus in the 6H (kidney/reproductive issues).
PVNR's reading notes›
- The "big problem" in astrology: with roundabout logic (22nd Drekkana, 64th Navamsa, nakshatra dispositors, etc.) you can justify death in almost any of 8 of 9 dashas after the fact, but cannot predict. Conditional dashas tuned to the event (here Dwisaptatisamadasha, condition = 7L in lagna) give clean, predictive timing.
- Ethics: never announce a death date; if a critical period is seen, advise Mrityunjaya mantra and that family stay near — help people be in the right place, not terrify them.
