Graha Yuddha: When the Lagna Lord Loses to a Maraka in the 8th
Graha yuddha — planetary war — when two grahas occupy the same degree and one is beaten. The rule that matters: when the lagna lord is the loser and the winner is a maraka, the winner takes the loser's daśā. The defeated planet still holds its period on paper, but the results delivered in it belong to the graha that beat it, and a maraka handed that time does not use it kindly. A contest of a few arc minutes is decided as completely as one of degrees. Read alongside it: the D-30 indicator for a mind under siege — Moon (manas) and Mercury (buddhi) afflicted by Rahu, Ketu or Saturn in a duṣṭhāna. One of the two afflicted is a burden; both afflicted at once is the serious reading, and it belongs in the D-30 rather than the Rāśi. On marriage, the Navāṁśa sequence: the 7th for the first, the 2nd for the second, the 8th for the third, each judged by its lord and what aspects it — with the 2nd and 8th from the Upapada as the marakas for the marriage itself. And the confirmation principle throughout: a single daśā system is a claim, three independent systems landing on the same window is a finding.
Key principle
The lagna lord — Venus — is defeated in graha yuddha by Mars, who is a double Maraka. They are 11 arc minutes apart. When the lagna lord loses and her dasha runs, Mars gets to do what he wants. This is why she has attempted suicide. The mind is depressed, the intelligence is confused, and the will to fight is gone. Do Angaraka Homam with full sincerity — not 15 minutes daily, but sunrise to sunset for 48 days, with full focus on her welfare.

Core Problem — Graha Yuddha
In natal Rashi (8th house):
- Venus (Lagna lord = Libra) and Mars are in graha yuddha
- They are 11 arc minutes apart = extremely close, very intense contest
- Mars WINS the graha yuddha (Mars has higher longitude in northern hemisphere rules)
- Mars = 7th + 2nd lord = double Maraka for Libra lagna
Consequence of Venus losing graha yuddha:
- Venus Mahadasha is running
- Mars (winner) now "owns" the dasha period — he gets to impose his results
- "Like a king who won a war — he doesn't have to take care of the kingdom nicely. He can destroy it."
- Mars as Maraka wants to end her life; defeating lagna lord = defeating her intelligence and thinking ability
"When Lagna lord is defeated in graha yuddha and his Dasha is running, the winner of the graha yuddha does what he wants. The loser's time is the winner's time."
Three dasha systems all confirm: Vimshottari (Venus), Chaturasi/Sama Dasha (Mars MD-Jupiter AD), D30 Charapariya Hridaya (Ketu) — all pointing to Venus-Mars combination being the active problem.
D30 (Trimshamsa) — Depression Analysis
In D30: Moon + Mercury in 12th house with semi-Rahu and Ketu
- Moon = karaka of mind; Mercury = karaka of intellect (buddhi)
- Both manas and buddhi afflicted by Rahu-Ketu in dusthana
- Saturn also influences
"Any person with suicidal tendency has Moon or Mercury afflicted by Saturn, Rahu, Ketu in the 3rd Samasaptaka (strong affliction). Here both Moon and Mercury are afflicted."
Key distinction:
- Moon afflicted by Saturn = mind depressed
- Mercury afflicted by Saturn = buddhi unable to think clearly
- This is not currently the peak of depression — when Vimshottari, Sama Dasha, and Pratyaya Dasha all point to Moon/Saturn/Rahu/Ketu axis, it will be worse.
Current depression source: Not Moon's weakness primarily, but Venus's defeat in graha yuddha. "She is more than depressed — she is frustrated and angry. 'Why is this happening to me?' — that resentment is boiling inside."
Saptamsa (D7) — Children
- Mars + Venus in D7 lagna (enemies in conjunction) → not a great combination
- Rahu in 5th = Sarpa Dosha + Badhaka lord (not just Rahu)
- 9th lord in 12th house (own sign, but 12th house placement)
- "Cannot conceive" (confirmed from the querent)
- Analysis: 5th house (children) has Badhaka Rahu in D7; even after much struggle, Rahu in 5th + lord in 12th = conceiving either impossible or with immense difficulty

- 2nd and 8th from UL have Moon-Rahu-Ketu axis = maraka for marriage
- Planets in 12th from UL (many) = trouble for marriage longevity

Intensity required:
"The problem is so intense (Lagna lord defeated in close graha yuddha by arch-enemy Maraka) that 15 minutes of daily practice will not be sufficient. Someone devoted to her welfare should sit sunrise to sunset for 48 days chanting Lakshmi Narasimha or Angaraka mantra with mind focused on her. If that intensity is achieved, the problem can be solved."
Approach to Angaraka Homam:
- Use time limit (half hour or 1 hour), NOT count target (count targets lead to hurried, insincere chanting)
- Mantra: "Dharani garbhasambhutam" OR "Agni mudha deva kakotpati"
- After poornahuti, sit in the presence of the fire and chant Angaraka Kavacham
